e-Compete Wales - Latest News and Events
This is the Open for Learning website, part of the e-compete project. The EC sponsored e-compete project aims to support Small and Medium Enterprises by providing opportunities for e-learning and tools for communities to collaborate and share knowledge.
Open for Learning is produced by KnowNet in Wales to provide information, discussion, development and guidance about e-learning and collaborative knowledge-development, especially open-source and open-knowledge solutions for continuing and informal learning.
The e-Compete research papers, entitled Readers in e-learning, have been written by Graham Attwell to report on research undertaken by the e-compete project, contribute to debate on some important issues in e-learning, and as learning materials.
About these papers
The e-Compete research papers, entitled Readers in e-learning, are designed to serve three purposes.
Firstly, they provide a report on research and development work undertaken through the EU Fifth Framework funded e-Compete project. Secondly, they are intended as a contribution to discussion around different issues in the development and implementation of e-learning especially within Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Finally, the e-Compete research Papers are intended as learning materials, specifically for the courses developed through the e-compete projects but also for courses and modules in e-learning.
The papers have a common structure. Each contains a short introduction into a particular issue in e-learning, which is supported by suggestions for further reading and by a series of issues for further discussion. Wherever possible, references and further reading are based on materials available on-line.
The full list of research papers in the series is as follows:
1. Issues in e-learning
2. Developing pedagogies for e-learning
3. Software and platforms for e-learning
4. E-learning and new basic skills
5. E-learning - contents and delivery
6. E-learning - why we need standards
7. E-learning and Small and Medium Enterprises
The papers have been written by Graham Attwell. Graham is a researcher working for Knownet, a partner in the e-compete project. He has wide experience in research and development of the use of Information and Communication technologies fort learning and in developing curriculum and pedagogies for vocational education and training and work based learning.
